Silkies are a great breed but, are notoriously difficult to sex before 4-5 mos. of age - and sometimes not till they crow or lay an egg. If you buy younger birds than that you can't be certain what sex they are. There is also a big difference in hatchery silkies, and those from a silkie breeder. BYC has several dedicated silkie threads, the longest running and my favorite is, "Silkie thread," put that in the search box and it will pop up.
