My neighbor got me into backyard chickens. She started with laying hens. I got my first chicks the Spring of 2015, which inspired her to get baby chicks, too! I added 3 more to the flock in early 2016.

Now I am raising a new batch of chicks for a friend and myself.

My chickens are a constant source of joy, entertainment, food (eggs) and fertilizer! This year I enlisted them as workhorses in my garden......tilling, eating the vegetation and prepping for planting (of course I still rototilled with a machine once the chickens were done). Life would be pretty boring without them!

Chic poo compost the best. Welcome!
