Hi everyone, I am new to the group and this is my introduction. I have owned ducks and chickens on and off for many years. Currently we have a small flock of 13 Brahma chickens with a rooster. There are also four adult Pekins (3 female and 1 male) and eight ducklings (mixed batch but mainly Pekins and Rouen) in a brooder. Living in the foothills of the North Cascade Moutains in Western Washington, they spend a lot of time in a large run with a wire net to be safe from predators. We deal with dogs, coyotes, bobcats, mountain loins, bears, bald eagles, raccoons, and surprisingly ravens.

The ducks are my favorite since they help more in the garden with weeds and bugs. The chickens are very entertaining but tend to be a little more destructive. I enjoy having all of them and the eggs they provide the family.

We have two 1 1/2 year old labradoodle sisters that help keep everyone in line. They were very easy to train to leave the birds alone but still like to sneak into the coop when its open and steel eggs. The cat could care less about any of it and just wants kitty treats.

I am happy to finally be a member of the site. The site has been a valuable resource when I have an issue with the flock. Thank you everyone for all the valuable information.
