Just gonna follow generic stuff for now
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Just recently got into chickens— a few weeks in. Very new. Only ever had neighbors or friends that had chicken. Also very new to quail!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 3 hens right now. Lil mama, Mona, and Minnie. Quail are incubating
(3) What breeds do you have?
Rhode Island Red. Coturnix quail tbd
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They’re pretty low maintenance however I wish they would come to me more! My chickies were bought from a commercial farm that was letting them go so they’re a bit skittish. They come for hand feeding though. I love the creativity we can put into their coops as well as the chickens personalities. Very unique.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I like to play musical instruments such as the violin, bass, and ukulele. I also enjoy making art whether it’s sketching or painting with water or oils. I also have an Instagram that I post on periodically about all aspects of my personal life.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I’ve had a tendency to lean towards exotic pets where it’s been rats, ferrets, and leopard geckos so far. Now anticipating adding a quail family.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
My partner was the one who owns the farm and introduced me to this site. I wanted to join because it’s such a good resource as well as my want to meet other fellow chicken and quail owners. I love to learn and this blog gives me everything.
