My wife and I have been raising laying hens for two years now; mainly my wife. We currently have 9 but are looking to expand up to 20 or so. We primarily have golden comets.
I came across Backyard Chickens while looking for ideas for better feeders/waters to lessen workload associated w/ care of our layers.
We bought a large tract of land in 2017 and plan on expanding our other farming efforts; vegetables, pasture poultry (broilers), orchard, bees and either beef or pork. We've been gardening for 20+ years, but have limited experience with the other activities. I grew up on a homestead but my parents had begun limiting the farming activities by the time I was hitting double-digit age. Still learned a lot from my uncle though as he continued to do it all until he was no longer physically able.
Looking forward to joining the conversations instead of strictly lurking.
