Hi all- I am so happy to find this group. We have a small flock of now 3 chickens. We live in the city and let our birds free range during the day in our sizable yard (nearly 2 acres... unheard of in the city, I know). My boys (9 and 12) adore the chickens, as do I, and we have come to love all aspects of owning chickens. We have had our little flock for 2 years and got them as chicks. We lost one of our sweet girls to a hawk last year and just said goodbye to an elderly chicken we adopted to let her live out her life with us when the rest of her flock died. It's been a roller coaster, but we love our girls and they bring us a lot of joy (and usually a lot of eggs).
