New Member Intro

Hello all! I'm Heidi and live in Connecticut. I've had horses, chickens & ducks, dogs, and cats all my adult life. At this time, I have cut down a lot and have two mini horses, and 4 birds. I'm joining because I am most interested in the chocolate brown Maran layers, the Easter Eggers (which I still have). I'm also interested in just a few call ducks. They seem to be next to impossible to find around here now. I've also had Marans but they did not do so well in winter. The Eggers are teenagers and are my last survivors of about 20 hens/1 rooster. I keep my chickens like pets, name them and have really friendly birds. Even now, my oldies still come running. I always thought it was me but perhaps some mealworms encourage them to be extra friendly. I know the ducks were always crazy about the worms and fresh veggies and grass. Anyway, I'm thrilled to be with likeminded people.
