Welcome to BYC!!Its been a while since I've had chickens; - 1993 - 1997 in Petaluma.
6 Japanese Silkies - My pardner and I called 'em the "Phyllis Dillers" and the Rooster's name was "Fang." You'd have be 60 something to know the reference. We 'liberated' them buying them as chicks on Stockton Street in Chinatown and they laid some gorgeous bluish eggs.
6 Barred Rock - We called 'em the "Jail Byrds" - because of their stripes. Also 'liberated' birds from Chinatown...
6 Rhode Island Reds - We never really had a nickname for them... Source: Petaluma Feed Store.
I'm looking forward to retiring and having a nice little hen house in Marin where I grew up, I just have to double-check any regulations for San Anselmo...
Happy to be on board! Thank you,

No longer in Petaluma - and for a chuckle I'd always say;
You can pet a dog, a chicken, or a cat - but you can't pet-a-luma!!! ;-)
Thank you for the warm welcome. Feels good to be part of the 'clutch'. thank you!
Hi Mike, best of luck with all your plans!
