New member intro

I have a brooder my husband built in the garage. It’s 4’x4’. Sectioned off right now until they are a bit bigger though.
I would not have that small of an area sectioned off with 11 day old chicks. I would keep the food/water as far from the heat source as possible. They will do much better that way.
How many chicks do you have?

15 chicks. They are sectioned off to 8sqft now, but next week I’m opening it up to the full 16sqft.

They need the space now. Chicks should have 1 sq ft of space per bird up to about 3 weeks old then they should have 2 sq ft.
Open it up. You and they won't regret it!

It’s only sectioned off currently to help with heat. It’s coooold right now.
They'll be fine! I raised chicks in the built-in brooder in my coop and when they were around 9 days old, the temp dropped to 23 over night. When I went out in the morning, they were zipping all over the place in the brooder, running around eating, playing and going back under the brooder plate to warm up then back out again.

Well that makes me feel better. I’m hovering 😂😅
