New Member Intro

I have been reading all of the great advice on BackYard Chickens for about 8 months and finally joined. We started our first flock in June and I have too say we are really attached to our little friends. We have a small flock of 4, a big black one with cool irredescent feathers, a speckled sussex, a blue andalusian and a white chicken that layes light green eggs. Our girls are very friendly, especially the speckled sussex. She runs up to us and crouches down at our feet so we can pet her!!!! She loves attention!!! Thank you to everyone for all the great ideas and advice that helped us get started.

Oh and our dog has adopted our flock as his flock. He hangs out with them during the day and even helps us "herd" them into the coop if we need to put them away before they go in to roost at night. He has never tried to hurt them and they walk right up and "talk" to him. Once they seemed to be having a discussion about the "egg" he layed (his ball!)

sounds like you have a great dog. Usually when chickens squat for you they are about to start laying eggs.
