For years I have wanted chickens. I finally talked my husband into sharing the hobby with me. It was helpful that our suburban street had acquired goats and ducks. As a skilled carpenter, he was more than willing to build an amazing coop. I call it the chicken mansion. He calls it the Shove-it Inn. On July 31st, 2013. I picked up seven, day old chicks. Amazingly, I now have seven hens! Three barred rocks, two Aracaunas, and two buff orpingtons. They all have names and continue to be quite enjoyable. I look forward to chatting with other chicken friends and getting questions and concerns answered for my first chicken endeavor.

Thank you about the name. He works for a sign shop and has designed a sign for it. I kept complaining that "I didn't get it...?" He assured me it was a good name. Here is a picture of the coop during the building process.
Oops, I guess I don't yet know how to attach the picture to a thread. Sorry.

To add a pic, when you are replying just click on that thumbnail that looks like a scene, (two to the left of the smile face) and that will lead you to files from your pc.
