Hello everyone! I'm a new homesteader in the Houston TX area.
(1) Are you new to chickens?
I'm new to keeping chickens! Got mine a few months ago and they're going to start laying soon.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have my first 8 right now I'm very proud of.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Barred rock, salmon faverolles, bantam, black austrolorp, blue maran, beilefelder, amberlink
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love all the natural benefits of keeping backyard chickens, they keep bugs out keep my grass healthy till the earth, and they all just make me so happy. I love eggs, and I love my chickens.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I like to do art, journal, and watch shows in my freetime.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I grew up in a city in AZ, but I always wanted my own little farm. Being able to keep my own chickens has been a big responsibility step for me, and I'm so glad I went through with it. I have lots of dogs I keep with my chickens, and they're all desensitized to the birds already.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
All of my birds were purchased as straight runs or pullets, so I was super surprised when three of my eight chickens were roosters! I did some research and found this website, I want my birds to go to loving homes that will care for them like I did.
