Hello!! I'm in North Idaho and have had chickens for a few years. I haven't made my chickens pets, they are more like livestock here. We try to keep 6 hens or so. We have lately lost 3 gens to aerial predators and the neighbor dogs...our hens are semi free range. Here for ad use and ideas!

Hi! Welcome to BYC! I wish I knew how to semi free range without predators getting my chickens. I keep a pretty safe free range environment by putting electric wire around the fence line and using bird netting over the top. So far so good. Sorry about your losses!!! :hugs

Welcome to BYC! I have a predator proof coop and run that my chickens are confined to at night. I have about 1/3 acre fenced with 5-6 foot fence with a hot wire around the top and bottom. This replace the 4’ electric poultry netting that a local fox learned to jump over after 6 years. Lots of trees and shrubbery to hide under from overhead predators. Hope you can find a way to better protect your chickens.
