(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new! I got my chickens around 2 weeks ago, when they were 18 weeks.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 5
(3) What breeds do you have?
Brown hyline, we bought them from a poultry farm, and I hope that they're happier having more space and better food to eat in our backyard
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love watching them just roam around and communicate with each other. I've especially loved getting to watch them grow as a flock together, and how they always seem excited to see me, especially when there's food involved.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to garden and watch films, and read and play piano.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am a full time college student studying Italian translation and International Studies. I work for a food bank as the manager of their garden, so I love talking organic and local food as well!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I have read a lot of the threads to figure out more about my chickens, and now that they laid their first egg I felt like it was time to join in on the BYC fun!
