Hello! I am a crisis counselor by profession and I enjoy reading and various crafts in my free time. I am down to just one pet, an elderly cocker spaniel, which is an unprecedented situation for me. As I look towards eventually filling the gap she will leave behind, chickens keep coming to mind as the animal I would most like to live with again <3

My family had pet chickens for a number of years when I was a child, and I adored them! I would like to learn more about the proper care and keeping of chickens in preparation for someday starting my own flock. I learned about BYC through a poultry blog I follow on Tumblr and immediately joined the community after discovering that it exists!

Aww...I am sorry about your aging dog! I just got back from the vet with my old dog who has Congestive Heart Failure, he's winding his life down as well. Extremely heavy on the heart to lose our companions. My heart goes out to you.

Chickens are a wonderful way to fill this hole in your life! They are smart, curious, super affectionate. Nothing beats a lap chicken.
