Let me start by saying this is a journey that began many moons ago. At the ripe age of 8 years old, I was given a 1-day old chick. That chick grew into a strapping handsome rooster named Charlie. Charlie remained a part of my life for a period of 8 months. My family lived in the suburbs of northern NJ; as Charlie inevitably vocalized, our neighbors expressed their displeasure. I can remember the trip my father and I took to a petting zoo in Northern PA where Charlie would take up residence. Though his stay was brief, he left his mark.
Since that childhood experience with Charlie, I have wanted to include chickens in my life. This is the beginning of my journey to fulfill that wish. I began that process approximately one month ago.
