Hello, my name is Samantha.
I do not own chickens, however I am a proud duck mommy of 11 ducks.
I will Introduce my Oldest babies first. (will post pics from duckling to duck)
Those oldest three are
Two (male and female) Cayuga and a very peculiar male Crested.
-A male named Stanley (for anyone who is familiar with the movie “The Mask,” Stanley Ipkiss is Jim Carrey’s character- and the green head just sold me on it. His first original name was Moses- due to a near death experience he had with water thanks to a couple pesky neighbor kids, but once his head had the green I changed it)
-A female named Esmeralda, however, everyone just calls her Ezzy. She’s definitely the leader of things. She’s noisy and bossy and I wouldn’t have her any other way. She knows she’s in charge by the way she has scared off people and pets alike lol. She is absolutely my best friend.
-The male crested name is Beavis bc he just looks like a Beavis. When I got him, I found out that usually crested ducks don’t live to be very old, because the crest is a defect where a tuft of feathers grows from an opening/whole in the skull. (Something like that, it’s been a few years, so a little rusty on specifics). And my heart was broken. His tuft was so small when he was a Duckling but soon grew to be practically the size of his head. It’s huge. Crested ducks are also known to be very neurotic- this rings true with Beavis as he always has his head cocked to the side and he does some rather strange things none of the other do.Him and Stanley are the best of friends- and the pair stick together as they try to stay out of Ezzy’s way. (I have 4 kiddie pools in their fenced in day area-and she always has one to herself. Which she acts very proud of That.)
