Hi all, I'm Kasey and my flock is located in Vermont.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? These are the first chickens my husband and I have gotten.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We hatched 13 chicks and one duck. No idea how many hens vs roosters we have yet. Also not sure if the duck is a drake or a hen.
(3) What breeds do you have? We have...silver laced wyndottes, ayam cemanis, easter eggers, and a ayam cemani ameraucana cross (cemani rooster - ameraucana hen)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? We're raising them for eggs (so hopefully there aren't too many roosters!) but they're also wildly entertaining.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Camping, hiking, kayaking, snowboarding, and gardening/permaculture.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My husband is a teacher, I work for a college, and we have our first baby on the way this October. We also have two cats and expect to get a dog in the next few years.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I discovered BYC when I was looking for information on raising chicks and a forum thread was pinned in Pinterest. I've been reading lots of posts and thought it was time I start participating!
