My husband is new to chickens, I on the other hand have raised and showed chickens my whole life. Currently have 12 chickens lost 2 a couple weeks ago but we will be expanding our flock soon. We have a mixture of mixed breeds actually have traded stuff to get most of our birds. Two we adopted from the city animal control, two we bought from RK and were supposed to be Easter Eggers they are not so we have a huge range. Our favorite things about having chickens is getting fresh eggs but the absolute best thing is all the wonderful personalities our birds have, we love spending time watching them explore, giving them treats, and spending time with them. The other hobbies we have are gardening and rock hounding. If you cant find us with the chickens we are either in the garden or cleaning crystals we mine by hand. Our farm consists of one coon hound “Colt” he lives outside and is very close to the coop to alarm us of predators, a pitty mix “Dini” as in Houdini at the shelter she was known for escaping, she is an inside dog and in her old age doesn’t go outside barely ever and has to be the only animal in the house she doesn’t share well, Two cats who were dropped of near our house and adopted us the “Marshal Dylan” loves the chickens and identifies as one, “Miss Kitty” on the other hand isn’t quite sure of them they scare her she is very skiddish, 12 chickens Gary, Becky, Susan, Layla, Hazel, Tilly, Medusa, Athena, Alice, Lacey, Pearl, and Daisy, each have quite the personalities, Me “Carley” I work at a natural food and supplement store, my husband “John” works for our city traffic department. We are just starting our little farm and can’t wait to continue to add on. I’ve always known about BYC and I decided to join as it seems like an amazing community to be a part of!
