Hi I’m Chickileta, I haven’t been around for along while.. I never could get my password to let me in!! I just reset my PW so I should be good…I have had chickens for 3years and a couple months I had only my two pet chicken for a couple years then bought some 4) production reds.. my last red hen, Mandy, who has been with me for about. 2 years and a pet.. she was attacked by a dog that we had just rescued a husky, got out of his pen and tore into my flock.. killed one of my newest hens, and my Mandy has an abdominal injury.. it has turned her belly, especially one area just blue from bruising and swelled up pretty big! It bled a small amount. She is very alert and so far has bodily strength ( this happened late this evening 5/10/23) I brought her in wrapped up in a towel and then put warm wet compresses for comfort and cleaning purposes and held her for an hour or so.. then put triple antibiotics with pain killer included.. I’m not sure what else to do.. I placed her into a dog carrier with shavings and I have her in the house. I covered the dog carrier with a blanket…

Welcome to Backyard Chickens. This is a great place to hang out and explore.
Start with one without pain killer Please, Birds do not handle it as well we do.
So far you have done great. Lot's of birds have lived through attack like you describe.
Post pictures when you can.

Welcome back @Chickileta

Sorry to hear about the attack. You’ve done great there with her. Just what I did with one of my mothers hens when her dog got hold of her. Cleaned her up, some blue spray and dog crate. It took a couple of weeks but she pulled through ok. I hope the same for your hen :fl
