1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? My husband and I started our flock in March of 2023.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We currently have a flock of 12 hens.

(3) What breeds do you have? We have 2 Marian’s, 4 brahmas, and an assortment of olive/Easter eggers.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? I love how they each have such distinct personalities.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? We love gardening, spending time with our dogs and doing projects around the property.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My husband is currently working as a heavy equipment mechanic for a local union shop, as well as running his own small business doing stump grinding and excavating. I work in the local hospital as a nurse first assistant in cardiothoracic surgery. We have two dogs and our flock of 12 girls that we love caring for and spending our free time with.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D I stumbled upon this group while doing research when we were looking into getting chickens in the beginning. The wealth of information here was amazing. I look forward to continuing to learn from everyone here and hopefully share somethings I’ve learned with new chicken owners as well.
