Hi everyone!

I'm new here and very new to being a chicken mom! I just got my first flock of 6 chicks a few days ago from Tractor Supply. I was told they were about a week old, so they're 1 wk 5 days old today.

I chose 3 Rhode Island Reds and 3 ISA Browns for their temperament, personalities, and egg production. Im doing all of this for the very 1st time and im both super excited and super anxious over their well-being. I hope I'm doing this right 😬

I love my senior dog and cats. I love reading, fishing, learning new things, and food! I am in the Army, and convinced my mom to sell her house and move halfway across the country with her dog and cats into my house with me haha.

I found BYC on Google when I asked a question about one of my girls who has me worried right now 😬

Welcome. It is very kind of you to ask your Mom to be close. What is going on with the girl you are worried about?

Hi! Yes, and it definitely helps to have someone home to help with the animals! She's new to chickens too and is less enthused lol. So, like I said before, she's about 12 days old. I've noticed, moreso the last day or so, that she's been sitting/laying in the same spot a lot. Watching her today, I haven't seen her eat or drink water really. I dipped her beak in water but she didn't seem to care. She hardly moves around and seems to fall asleep where she's standing or lays down. There also seems to be something funky going on with her wings like they're not growing like her sisters, but I don't know if that's normal or not. I added pictures of her if that helps.

Welcome!! I’m also new to BYC but I’ve raised chickens for years, and I will say Rhode Island reds were a GREAT choice. The egg production is great, I’ve experienced long lifespans with them (I have an 9 year old one this year!) and they can be sweet birds. They’ve also always had a tendency to periodically get broody on me in their laying years, so beware of that once they’re old enough to start producing lol.

Do you have any sav-a-chick? Also, please look at her vent and make sure it is not "pasted over" with poop

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Have you tried giving her some Save A Chick solution and some poultry multivitamins in a bit of sugar water to give her a boost?
I have not! I didn't get a chance to get to the store to buy some before they closed, but I will definitely be picking some up tomorrow! I hope it works and quickly
