Hello!! My name is Sonya and my son is Liam! We are brand new chickie mamas to 6 gorgeous silkie babies .. Reyna, Zeus, Leia, Skye, Axel and Izzy. We are new to farm life altogether. Although we live near farms .. basically in the country, we had never lived on a farm. After my father in laws passing we inherited his humble farmhouse and a few acres that’s most definitely situated in the country. We toyed with these ideas of continuing the garden that his father always had .. many many many years, getting chickens and becoming more reliant on ourselves. So my son came to me with the question ‘Can I do a 4h project?’. I said ‘Sure!’. We quickly decided that would be chickens. These are show chickens of course so none will be slaughtered. I can not express the absolute joy these little birds bring us! Just watching them grow knowing they will be laying eggs for our family! We’re already looking forward to a couple Pygmy goats and hopefully down the road some cows once we aquire more land.
We are so very over thrilled with the slower pace and peace and quiet you miss out on each day when you live in a place like this. It’s our own paradise and that’s exactly what we’re shaping it into!
