Greetings to all,

I'm from the Twin Cities in Minnesota and will be a new ultra-small-scale urban chicken keeper next year. I've been perusing this website for about a decade out of pure interest and learn a lot through this website as well as facebook group page. It took a while to get myself in a position to be raising chickens, but I'm finally almost there. I'll hopefully have a custom green-roof coop using deep litter and 3 bantam hens by next year on a little patch of 225 sq ft, with some occasional free ranging outside of that.

I'm angling for some clean-legged bantams and drawing on a hint I got at the State Fair last Sunday, hope to get in contact with the Minnesota Poultry Association soon to find some breeders near me. I'm definitely on the more holistic bent, raising bantams as pets, and going to be experimenting with some shrub and tree landscaping in the run.

I have worked in restaurants, disability services, early childhood, and manage a 1915 duplex with my husband. Outside of forays about chickens, I enjoy reading, watching anime, spending time with my husband and family, caring for our calico cat Frenchie, exploring native plants of the dry woodlands and prairies of Minnesota, and learning the Dakhota language.

Unless I move to a place with more land, 3-4 bantams is what I intend to stay at.

I'm looking forward to interacting more and sharing pics when I get them!
