Hi, nice to meet ya from the US! I'm glad you joinedHi new member from Scotland here. 4 years keeping 3 rescue hens (charity gets them at 14 months from farm instead of the abbatoir) They get a well deserved retirement instead. They are all hybrids shades of brown through to orange in colour. They come in various states of feather cover but in a few weeks they're happy free rangers. They also die readily but die happy. Thank you for the post about sour crop and vent gleet. I have my fingers crossed that the coconut oil route works for my oldest hen (5½) who is unwell. I'm trying and past experience with hens and vets is not great. I have been a cat and dog owner but all gone for the present at least. Otherwise, walking, running, gardening, volunteering and my job keep me busy.

Best wishes with your hen, I have accidentally aspirated a bird while trying to syringe liquid in. Be sure to hold the head level, not up or back and squeeze out the liquid at the front of the mouth, generally under the tip of the tongue prevents it getting into the air ways. Ad long as too much didn't get in there, she should be ok.
