Hello everyone! My name is Sarah and I'm new to BYC. I have ducks instead of chickens but thought I would still post an introduction here with the questions modified.
1. Are you new to ducks/when did you first get ducks?
I first got my ducks in May of 2024. I started with four and their names are Pipsqueak, Ruffles, Mikey, and Coke.
2. How many ducks do you have right now?
I currently have 10 ducks. We ended up getting six more in July to help improve the male to female ratio. The other's names are Tequila, Dumpling, Mango, Cherry, Oatmeal, and Fruit Punch.
3. What breeds do you have?
All of my ducks are Welsh Harlequin.
4. What are your favourite aspects of raising backyard ducks?
I love watching them grow and getting to know their unique personalities.
5. What are some of your other hobbies?
I enjoy spending time with the animals, doing puzzles, and learning new things.
6. Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live on a farm in Ontario, Canada with my mom and boyfriend. We also have two dogs, two cats, a ferret, and a tortoise. I am currently a university student majoring in Animal Biology. At school I have learned a lot about chickens but not as much about ducks, which led me to doing research and eventually getting them. I hope to eventually attend vet school and become a veterinarian in the future.
7. Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I came across BYC when doing Google searches whenever I had questions about my flock. I have known about BYC ever since getting my ducks. I finally decided to join this community so I could ask questions about my ducks and get help from others who have more experience than me.
