New member introduction!!

Good evening

So I’m a stay at home mom of two currently. Been around chickens all my life we even use to have two emus when I was a kid. Currently I have 5 full grown chickens
1 rooster - barnyard mix
4 hens (1 barnyard mix and 3 blue lace red Wyandotte’s)
2 lavender guineas (started with 4 but one is missing and the other died tonight by a 7’ black snake still pretty sad about it)
We also have about 13 chicks (1 was hatched by a momma chicken and 12 from tractor supply)

I don’t remember all the questions I was supposed to answer but if you have questions feel free to ask. Oh and I also have rabbits, dogs, and cats.

That is an adorable picture!

So sorry about the loss of your guinea.

Was it in the coop where it got her? If so, you can try to determine where it got in and cover it with 1/2" hardware cloth. That should keep a snake that size out, plus it's what most of us use to keep much larger predators away from our poultry.

So sorry about the snake killing your poor guinea!

Momma looks pretty content with her one youngster; has she tried to mother the other new babies? Dealing with chickens and guineas seems as if it would be easier than emus, but they all have their challenges.
