Hello everyone. I'm a first timer, although grew up with LOTS of chickens in my backyard. I've got 6 new biddies that I'm already in love with. Did some research before starting and decided on RIR and Barred Rocks. Dealer talked me into "Araucanas" which from research, I realize are probably just Easter Eggers. I don't care. Am still working out details of feeding and watering methods for when they move into the "big pen." My boxer has kept his nose to the wire ever since they arrived. One little BR has "imprinted" on him, I think.

Welcome from New Hampshire. You will enjoy the Barred Rock. A friend of mine turned me on to them and I am so glad. She also has Araucanas and she will sometimes bring an egg or two to work to show the different colors that the eggs are.

The 2 Barred Rocks, Barbie and Becky, are definitely the friendliest already. Barbie walks by and give BJ the boxer peck on the nose every now and then.
