(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had a New Hampshire Red hen as a pet when I was between 6 and 14 years old. After that, we got some black sex links. We butchered the cockerels but they were too tough to eat. The hens layed good eggs though. For the last 40+ years I've wanted to get back into having chickens.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Right now I have 8 hens and 1 very happy rooster named Lucky. I would love to have more hens and sell eggs but that requires another building. I'm not a carpenter.

(3) What breeds do you have?
I have 5 RI, 1 Austrolorp, 1 Easter Egger, 1 Buff Orp hens and the RI rooster

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
When I Googled chicken coops last spring I saw it but today saw it again in
Mother Earth News

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I am a handler with Maine Search and Rescue Dogs which is really my only hobby There isn't time for anything else

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have 4 grown sons ranging in age from 27-35. I also have 3 German Shepherd Dogs, two Maine Coon cats, and a miniature Lop bunny. I own a full service pet boarding facility. I am active in community affairs.
