(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
New to Chickens in my Adult life. My grandparents had farms so I grew up around livestock, but this is my first time as a chicken parent.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
4 chicks
(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Ameracaunas, Betty White-Stripe and Bernadette
and 2 Maran Cuckoos, Lisa Frank and Sylvia Broodlebottom
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
So far getting to know them and their personalities. I am also really enjoying designing their coop at my new home. We all got new homes this year!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Woodworking, Brewing, Graphic Design, Landscape Architecture, Reading, Crosswords
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I live in Coastal Virginia with my boyfriend, our two cats, Mitchell and Goldie, and our 4 new chicks. We are new homeowners, fledgling homesteaders; an engineer, an architect; a brewer, a gardener.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I have been a member since Graduate School in 2015. I was doing research for my Thesis on urban agriculture then, and now I am here to make sure I am raising my little chicks the best way I can.
