(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Currently on starting year 4 of keeping chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Currently at 7 but about to get 10 more next month.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Black Australorp, Barred Rock, Buff Orpington
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
My family and I love the farm fresh eggs and watching the chickens be chickens. We recently moved the chickens to the "Justin Rhodes Style" on pasture in a Chick shaw with a mobile electric fence. Seems much more natural than having them cooped up in the same spot everyday.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Love to grow food for the family. Fishing and golf also are high up on the personal hobby list.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Happily married father of 2 with another due end of February 2021. I'm in Grovetown, GA and currently working toward becoming food secure. With the onset of the world panic of 2020, growing food has never been more important and I'm looking for any and all information available to continue boosting production.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community
I have referred to BYC in the past if I had an issue with the flock and have found lots of helpful information. I'm joining to try to increase my personal network in the event of hard times in the future. Building community is how you stay strong and we need to know our neighbors.
