New member - moving to the country....

Hi all! I am so excited to have found BYC. I'm not a chicken owner yet. My family currently lives in a city in MD, but we've bought 5 acres in Gore, VA and will be moving there mid-June!

About me - I'm a SAHM of two (13 &11). We homeschool and I do some freelance writing. I'm also a doula, childbirth educator, and prenatal dance instructor in my "spare" time. I'm a little overwhelmed at the idea of adding hobby farmer to my many hats... well, more excited than overwhelmed!

I've wanted chickens forever, and I'm super excited to finally be allowed (my city's laws prohibit it). I've been lurking a bit before now. This community is super encouraging!

And this is me, thinking about getting out of the city!!

you might want to visit "where am I, where are you" thread and post on your state thread before you move. They can probably tell you the best places to buy birds locally, feed, supplies etc. what does best in your climate and a million other things
