I will look at the feed in the morning. I believe that they may need a higher protein feed AND, from what I have seen and heard, they may be using too much calcium mixd in with the feed, thus resulting in some hungry chickens. Thank you all for the help! hopeHiya, and welcome to BYC!! @TwoCrows has mentioned before that making/buying curtains for the nest boxes might work to keep them out of there unless they're laying eggs. I have heard of a couple folks say that works.
For the feather problem, are they on layer feed? They may need a higher protein feed.
We aren't supposed to put the oyster shell in the feed if that's what's going on. They should always have it in a separate dish. If they need it, they'll eat it.I will look at the feed in the morning. You aren't supposed to mix it in the feed. Supplemental calcium is to be fed in a separate container free choice by the birds as they need it.too much calcium mixd in with the feed,
