2 yr. old Barred Rock, perfectly fine one day, next day laying down not able to stand on both feet. Would sort of stand on one foot, and now, she is completely down. Would eat and drink just fine on first day, but has now tapered off because she has to flop around with her wings to move. She is alert. Healthy, red comb.

Need help identifying cause, please. Bumble Foot? Marek? Something else? I'm at a complete loss.

I’m no expert, but I’ve had a Barred Rock with an injured foot before. I suspected it was a fighting injury being that it came on suddenly. I sprayed it with Hydrogen Peroxide and wrapped it to keep the wound clean. That looks like a bad cut between her toes in the second photo. My hen never fully recovered but she adapted and never let the limp slow her down. I named her Hoppy. She grazed and fed great, and she didn’t back down from a fight. Sadly she was caught by a neighbors dog and died at 2 1/2 years old. I hope yours will be okay.

Thanks for your reply Hen-Ry, and sorry you lost Hoppy. What you're seeing in that photo is just a lighting issue........not a cut. Did Hoppy have all of those black spots on her feet/legs? Guess I'm not a very good chicken mom because I never noticed all of the spots on her before.
