i have a sizzle roo and the other day when i was looking at him and i noticed that his neck was red!!!! it looks raw and VERY painful!! i decided that it might be mites so, i went to tractor supply and got permethin spray and i have used DE and washed the coop top to bottom with dawn dish detergent etc.. i have done all of this for like a week, and it has not been getting any better but seems to be getting worse!!! this picture really doesn't do it justice!! i really need some advice!! does anyone know what this might be? thanks

You might try getting some Garden and Poultry dust from Tractor Supply and dust him well with that. You also need to strip and treat the coop with something that will actually kill the mites, Sevin spray works well because it gets into all the nooks and crannies where the bugs like to hide. DE will not be effective enough to clear up an infestation. You also need to re-treat the birds and the coop every 7 to 10 days since that is the hatch cycle. They can be hard to get rid of because any that are missed repopulate very quickly.
