New member - new to chickens!

Hello everybody.

I am in Northern Arizona, and looking to start my flock with 3 Black Sex Link and 3 Black Austalorp females, my research so far, leads me to believe these types will do well in our climate - last into this year we ranged 109°F - down to 0°.

I would like to select chicks in person, rather than relying on postal delivery.

Does anyone know if there are breeders/suppliers in Arizona (the closer to Prescott the better), I could visit and collect chicks from, in the next few weeks?

Welcome! I'm in Texas, and one of my chicks is a black australorp, I do hear they're supposed to be ok in the heat. Which surprised me, since they're black, but that's what they say. Good luck finding some. When things change so I can get more birds, I want to find some of the blue Australorps. (slate gray)

Good evening and welcome to the BYC flock! I have my first hatch from a hatchery coming tomorrow. I decided to use one for two reasons (1) I can get breeds not sold in my area (2) I can pick the sex. Best of luck with your new flock.
