New Member Not New to Chickens...

Cmom - We do have a lot in common! That's awesome. It may seem to some that it's a lot of birds, but it's manageable and I love them all except for the toe eaters. Have you ever experienced cannibalism in chickens or in any specific breeds? This was new to me and over the years I've raised many breeds of chickens, so this was really unnerving. But one of the worst toe eaters got it by his sibling and now is a weeble. Oh I cannot wait to be rid of these vermicious knids! A few bad eggs ;)

I have seriously thought of the high end restaurant's tiny gamehens - 3 oz is it? - They sound more intriguing every day. But we will hold off until December when they are ready :)

That is one thing we don't have in common. I never had any meat birds but have had dual purpose birds. We have processes some of the young cockerels in the past but not anymore. Now I take my extra males to the local farm swap and sell them. I usually have them pre-sold which is a blessing. I do have a regular buyer. My birds are very nice if I do say so myself but I do raise them for showing. People have asked me what I put on the birds to make their feathers so shiny. I tell them it's not what I put on them but what I feed them. You are what you eat. Here are a few of my young RIR's from past hatches. One was a champion at a show.

This hen was also a champion. Here she is on champion row waiting to get her picture taken.
