I hope this is the right place to post this ... I am introducing myself though I am not new to this site (I've just never posted anything). I have used its wealth of information since I got four Red Stars from the Tractor Supply Store for 4H last February and got lots and lots of great ideas--borrowed a coop idea that's worked great! In that time, I fell in love with these chickens, couldn't let them be alone at the county fair at night so quit the kids from 4H, then found out chickens were illegal in my city, fought the change with a local activist for six months and against all odds won, and have survived a few dog and hawk attacks (and have the vet bills to prove it). In one short year I have learned so much, enjoyed every bit of it (except for the predators) and am pretty sure I will never be without chickens scratching in my yard.
