(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've dealt with chickens before, but never on my own. "Santa" brought the kids a TSC "8" chicken coupe for Christmas. and a $100 to go buy their egg laying ready chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Short answer 7 chickens 13 chicks
(3) What breeds do you have?
Bought 3- 6 month old Ameraucanas and got a free 2 year old leghorn chicken. Then someone gave us another 8 month old Ameraucana the next day. Month later from the original batch that same breeder was starting over and gave us two more chickens(Another Ameraucana and barred rock). 2 weeks ago we bought 2 Ameraucana chicks, 2 blue andalusian chicks, 1 red sex link, 1 barred rock. Then the next week we went ahead and bought 4 blue andalusian chicks, 1 red sex link, 1 Ameraucana, and 1 more barred rock.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google search
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
The spouse and I race cars, go to car shows etc. The kids/family is our main hobby.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
4 kiddos, 2 dogs, 3 parakeets, and 2 cockatiels . I work in oil and gas and the S.O. is a stay at home mom and has a side business selling a home fragrance line called Pink Zebra. We live on 1.5 acres and just trying this chicken business to help teach the kids how to work. Raise chickens, sell eggs, maybe start selling chicks. Trying to teach them how the world works. The property already had a 30x40 barn with 3 horse stalls. I'm converting one of the 10x15 horse stalls into a coop. The birds free range on ours and the neighbors property.

Greetings and welcome to BYC FatherFord! So glad you joined us. When you first mentioned an "8 chicken coop" from TSC then followed that with 7 & 13, my heart fell as I was trying to think how to break the (bad) news regarding your coop... Then you explained about converting the horse stall and I was like "WHEW"! Your kids are lucky and I hope the whole family enjoys the chickeneering adventure.
