(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Started keeping chickens in 2015 when we moved to a rural property.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
45 and 22 guinea fowl and 4 ducks. Lots of wild water birds and bush turkeys as well. They are spread across our 23 acres in three coops. We have 4 roosters.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Wyandotte, australorp, barnevelder, various Sussex crosses, Rhode Island Red, ISA Browns, Sumatran bantam and mixes of these that have been adopted and raised here.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Each of their personalities and having an organic source of eggs.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Organic market gardener
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We also have a border collie to help control the birds getting into our various vegetable and fruit fields and a very cranky cat who was brought over with us to Australia from Arizona, USA.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? I came across BYC through an internet search and come here periodically when I have issues with my chickens to search for remedies. I use the acidified copper sulphate as a go to and the recipe I found on your site. I've also used the fungus bomb recipe with great success. Recipe also located on this site. Finally joined so I could perhaps share my experiences and offer some advice as I have come across so many different problems. My other go to website is https://www.poultrydvm.com/
