(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We are always new to chickens, always learning even after 5 years of raising mostly hens. our first girls came to us in the spring of 2018.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 17
(3) What breeds do you have? We have had Rhode Island introduced to our flock of Buff Orpingtons, but just recently only kept the sweet Buffies, we love this breed and are great egg layers.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Hobby and entertainment, fun to watch and care for, egg production is a plus.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Gardening, Reading and Writing
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Our home is an Empty Nester, no pun Intended. Elder family caretakers and have extended hospital shifts a few days a week. Household has 1 Golden Retriever, 1 Ragdoll cat, 2 New Zealand Rabbits (male and female - unrelated) also caring for one injured baby chick.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I love to read comments and help on forums, blogs and special groups dedicated to helping others. I havehad many questions asked through Google and BYC has always been tops in getting the answers or even close to it. I would say I found out about BYC from family and have been following the blogs for over 2 years now but never jumped in to join until now.
