Hi, welcome to BYC!
It is amazing how some hens can hatch eggs at all. I have one little hen who always has great hatches. She "takes time out" several times a day, sometimes for as long as, an hour each time. One of my older girls has to be forced off her nest, and her hatches are never as good.
I also have had great luck giving my incubator and bought chicks to my broodies to raise.
