I am new to the group and have enjoyed and learned so much about chickens (and their caretakers) from this site. I saw a silkie chicken being cared for on the Dr. Pol show and fell in love-with the chicken, not Dr. Pol! I bought my first chickens as pandemic therapy. I free ranged and lost all of them to a Fox. I have a new covered run my new flock of 12 enjoys and I watch them free range for an hour before they March back into the coop for bed every night, rain or shine. Nothing like fresh eggs, but better is the sheer enjoyment of having a few different breeds of chickens with different personalities-and a guinea to run the show. As you can see from my user name, I love pugs too and they all get along fine (with the 2 cats and 2 horses too). I am a therapist, and they are all my therapy when I get home from work. Thank you all for sharing your stories, heartaches, advice, and care in this community!

Sorry to hear about your first flock, but congrats on the new chickens. I'm curious about how one guinea got into the mix?

I think animals are excellent therapists -- although I truly appreciate a good human therapist, too!
