I'm from Wisconsin brand new to the chicken thing. After having built a coop, I bought 2 laying Rhode Islands, and 3 laying Production Reds at an animal swap. I also bought 1 Barred Rock and 1 Partridge Rock pullets that were 6 weeks old. I have had the birds separated since I've owned them. Lately I have been introducing the pullets to the hens during the day and haven't noticed much of an issue. Is it safe to leave trhe pullets in the pen/coop with the hens now? I look forward to the advice. Great information I've noticed in these forums.

Once they are spending time together with no friction, you can leave them together.

What many people do is put the younger chickens in a pet carrier or something similar and then place it in the coop for the older hens to get used to the idea they will be sharing the space, but to protect the smaller ones form initial pecking. I have also read about some people putting up a barrier in the coop so that they can see each other but not peck. When you introduce them during the day, is is out in the yard or in the actual coop? If the hens are not acting territorial or pecking when the pullets visit the coop maybe you wouldn't have any problems just putting them in there, but i don't know for sure.
