Hey my chick seems to be blind it's eyes have kinda turned milky!! Is that a bad sign!

Wish this chick would get better! Don't know what else to do!!!! And I'm gonna freak out if the poor baby doesn't make it though the night! Don't know how else to help it!!!!!!!! :(

I syringe fed it some medicated feed softened with hot water and it actually drank quite a bit!

How is your chick this morning. I do hope he made it.

Not sure about the eyes! It is good that it drank/ate but remember-it is not very big so you don't want to give him to much. It also needs to be kept in mind that we try our best to save these guys but it does not always work out the way we planned. If he doesn't make it-You did all you could!

It's still alive and it's eyes are like glued closed...but it just lays on it's back and kinda kicks around in the incubator I don't want to put it with the other chicks scared they will pick on it

Unfortunately it is beginning to sound as though it might not make it. You could mix some molasses or a teaspoon of sugar and a pinch of salt in some warm water and feed that to him to try and lift his energy. I am sorry this isn't quite working out.

Sounds like you've done a lot for it.

I got my first chicks (didn't hatch them) last year and spent a lot of time trying to help a couple out. One lasted about 2 weeks. We also helped out one that made it through a coon attack. The 2 that survived were always behind on development and didn't amount to much. We kept them till late fall, but they still didn't make the table - soup wasn't bad though.

For the amount of time I put into it, and for what I got out of it, and the quality of life the 2 chickens had being at the bottom of the pecking order, I won't be helping out like that again. Just wasn't worth it for any of us.
