(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Brand new to keeping chickens. My daughter works with the wife of a manager of a local commercial egg farm that mainly serves the restaurant industry. They were getting ready to to kill their 80,000, 1 year old chickens (Lohmann Whites) due to the decreased demand caused by the COVID19 shutdowns. His wife asked my daughter if we would like some before they gassed them. We found a small coup through Facebook (4'x6' with external nesting boxes). It needed a little work to repair some rotten wood in the nesting boxes but overall very sturdy. I build a temporary run (9'x13") out of some fencing I had in the garage and cut out
a new pop door. We now have 12 "rescue chickens". They look quite pitiful from the overcrowding of the commercial operation, I guess. I'm hopeful they will regrow their feathers with time and TLC. l have no idea what I am doing so BYC has been a great resource so far. We've had them for 2 days and have already gotten 10 eggs. They seem to really like their new home.
