Hi I am from the UK and have a pair of blue Pekins with 4 eggs hatched one was rotten and I had to bring in the last 3 and pip them with help from a few posts on here! sadly I was too late to save 2 but gladly one is just alive so glad I didnt listen to friends who said to leave them in the airing cupboard! It still has a little bit attached to its bottom and not sure if to leave it?

Make sure you are keeping it warm- that's most important. Also, show it the water and gently dip its beak- but wait until it's had a chance to nap for a bit. They need to be at 95-100 degrees F for the first week.

I'm going to look for the link to a thread where some discussion was regarding bits on the bum...hang on...
 
Thankyou! I will put it back with the others I just want it to be on it's feet first, maybe it just needs a nap then. The bit on its bum is just kinda white now no blood or veins just got it in a towel on hot water bottle at the mo and down my chest when i refresh the water bottle lol

I'll see if I can find the directions for the easy way to post pics, too.

Is the bit left behind a bit of membrane? It may be a condition called 'rough navel' or it could be just left over membrane. The other possibility is the umbilical hernia, which is what mine had, and it contained a bit of yolk and some intestines...it was a process to fix it, but it worked, and she's great!
 
thanks Chookchick I looked at the thread you posted and it doesnt look like any of them so it appears to have absorbed the yellow yolk and i think it is just a bit of the cord left I am letting it rest and hope it comes around x
