Hi, my name is Wendy. I have 17 chicks at the moment. Rhode Island Reds, buff orpingtons and 1 that I have no clue to what he is.
I have 30 guinea keets ordered from a hatchery coming August 12th. Fairly new to chickens ( had some about 8 years ago) but very new to guineas. Any and all advice is welcome and definately needed.

Nice to meet you Wendy, how old are your chicks? If you go to "Other Backyard Poultry," forum above, you will find threads for guineas and other poultry breeds like, quail, ducks, geese, etc.

Welcome to BYC and the wonderful world of poultry! So glad you could join us!

Guineas do great in free-range or semi-free-range set-ups. They love eating bugs and plants, and even snakes! They do well with chickens if raised around them, though sometimes male guineas chase roosters.
Guineas love to perch up high, on the house or in trees, so work with them at a young age to perch inside of their coop/pen if that is where you want them to be. Keep them in that coop/pen for a few weeks until they imprint on it, and make sure to work with them with lots of treats. I've heard that guineas don't like to be held as much as "played with". They like to sit near you or perch on your shoulder over being cuddled.

Chickens and guineas are both awesome! Feel free to ask any questions you may have about them.

Best of luck!
