Hi I am a new member having just found a baby wild turkey across from our house. I have raied chickens, pheasent, quail but that was many ,many years ago.I heard a peep and found it by the railroad tracks. called to it and it came running to me. I gave it yellow cornmeal and some water. Will o to feed mill in the morning and get chick started. I don't have a brooder but will keep it in the house till it gets older. Does it have to have medicated water?
We live in Oh. ,we are both retired and we show Chihuahua's and American Staffordshire Terriers as an expensive hobby. We have a good size barn with a chicken house and inside cage. But I will keep itin the house til we figure out what to do with it.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. Thank you for rescuing that little imp. You can ask questions at the Turkey thread. Have no idea what turkeys eat. Chihuahuas, and Staffs - kinda unusual combination. I'm thinking one is your favorite and the other is for your wife. I used to show Cockers in the '60's and '70's.

Thanks to All for the welcome. I need help, please. My 9 week old pet turkey broke its leg and I have never splinted anything . Please let me know how to splint it. Thanks.
