Hello- I am a new member of this site. I was wondering if there is anyone who knows if ordinances are going to be changing or up for discussion to change in unincorporated Kane County Illinois for keeping chickens. Are any groups working on facilitating change in this county? In speaking with the zoning personal, their chicken keeping ordinances have not been updated since 1998. I personally feel they are out of date especially when ordinances in cities are less stringent. If anyone has any feedback about this topic- that would be awesome. Thanks.

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about Illinois laws. I suggest posting in the 'local Laws and Ordinances and how to change them' forum.

You could also try posting on your IL state thread to see if anyone close by you is on that forum. Here's a link to get you there:

Good luck getting the ordinances updated.

It would be good if you could present all the towns/cities around you that allow chickens. Even Chicago allows chickens (even roosters). If they can do it, everywhere should.
